Odoo 15 End of Life: Migration Planning Guide (2026)

DeployMonkey Team · March 24, 2026 7 min read

Odoo 15 Support Status

Odoo 15, released October 2021, is at or past its end-of-life date by 2026. Organizations still running v15 should plan migration to a currently supported version. The longer you delay, the more breaking changes accumulate between your version and the target.

Migration Path Options

v15 to v18 (Recommended Minimum)

Three major versions to cross: v16, v17, v18. Each introduces breaking changes that affect custom modules.

v15 to v19 (Maximum Features)

Four major versions. More breaking changes to address, but you get the latest features including the AI suite and ESG reporting.

Breaking Changes Per Version

v15 to v16

  • Loyalty/coupon engine replacement — coupon, sale_coupon replaced by unified loyalty
  • Knowledge app introduction (Enterprise)
  • Spreadsheet dashboard modules added
  • Website builder redesign

v16 to v17

  • attrs removal — most impactful change, affects all custom views
  • OWL 2.x frontend framework completion
  • UI design refresh

v17 to v18

  • tree renamed to list — all custom tree views need updating
  • html_editor extraction from web_editor
  • Hoot testing framework replaces QUnit
  • account_lock, account_payment_term, account_audit_trail merged into account

v18 to v19

  • SEPA modules renamed to ISO 20022
  • Delivery connectors moved to REST variants
  • account_consolidation removed
  • html_builder replaces web_editor for website building

Effort Estimate

Migration Steps

  1. Audit — inventory all custom modules, views, reports, and integrations
  2. Assess — identify which custom modules are still needed vs. replaceable by standard features
  3. Plan — choose migration path (in-place vs. fresh install), target version, and timeline
  4. Develop — update custom modules for all breaking changes
  5. Test — run UAT with production data clone
  6. Deploy — cutover with minimal downtime
